Eternal Love?

Do you believe in everlasting love? I do and that's why I've gone against the industry norms and have embraced our new everlasting roses collection. Everlasting roses? Doesn't that mean that customers won't be in to buy new flowers in a few weeks? The answer is yes. But that doesn't scare me away. True, the everlasting roses are real roses, they are not your cheap looking and feeling silk flowers from the 80s. These are real roses preserved with an exclusive process of dehydrating and waxing...guaranteed to last at least 2 years. The question must remain, why sell these? I know that these everlasting roses are so beautiful, so special, that they will continue driving in business. They are unique, something to set us apart from the average florist in New York. When we stop innovating, we start falling behind. To make these ever more special, instead of placing the roses in a cheap Chinese vase, I arrange them in a Ecri ceramic vase. This vase is made by hand in Holland and is finished with REAL GOLD! Now you see what I'm saying, very special indeed.

So far the everlasting experiment has been a huge success. Customers are coming back. They are buying one for their mom, one for their wife, one for their secretary and one for themselves. They see the cost as a long-term investment rather than a purchase on a whim. Roses and Blooms will continue experimenting with the everlasting roses in different styles and containers and may even expand our everlasting options to other flowers as well. I will definitely keep you all posted, let me know what you think.

Hello to the world of blogging!

This is the first entry of many for Roses and Blooms on our new blog, Roses and Blooms : Journeys, Flowers, and Stories from a New York Florist. Everyone thinks that a flower store in Manhattan is a simple business, but believe it or not, there is a lot more than just pretty flowers involved. Here, we will do our best to keep you in touch with what is happening at 599 Lexington Avenue and what we will be doing in the future.

We are all very excited to begin this endeavor, so please be sure to share this blog with your friends and come back often to see what is new with us.

As a preview of what is to come, check out this blog post by a friend of ours, chronicling the beginnings of Roses and Blooms http://rosesandbloomsnyc.blogspot.com/ as well as another friend's blog with some general information about Roses and Blooms here http://rosesandbloomsny.blogspot.com/.
